The instinct on a long trip is to pack more. The opposite is correct: past about a week, everything you carry is a decision you have to keep making.
Pack for seven days, not thirty
Laundry is cheap and available nearly everywhere you are likely to stay. One week of clothing plus a wash cycle covers a month with room to spare.
The things actually worth the weight
-
A power strip — long stays are lived one outlet short
-
A travel router if you work online
-
Any medication you would struggle to name in another language
-
One outfit that works for a nice dinner
Buy the rest there
Toiletries, a towel, kitchen odds and ends — all cheaper locally and all a waste of luggage allowance. Leave the space; you will want it on the way home.
